The network a component of a system and needs to provide features, scale and speed. The most important attribute however maybe the ability to integrate at all levels i.e. from supply chain to the application that the system supports.
We will examine how picking a well understood, vibrant and ubiquitous community like the Linux kernel accelerates getting to the that goal. We will also discuss some of the downsides of this approach and the mitigation strategies that we have used for them.
