Virtual Infrastructure Manager (VIM) is a very critical component in NFV architecture. The service providers always look for flexibility in its choice of VIM implementations and avoid vendor lock-in when they deploy and manage SDN/NFV services over heterogeneous Clouds using a unified Orchestrator, such as ONAP. Besides, the orchestrator needs to maintain the platform backward compatibility with every new release. It would be a headache if different VIM might be chosen for different use cases or application scenarios. To resolve these problems, we provided a micro service based Multi-Cloud framework which enable Orchestrator to deploy virtualized NE or services that run on multiple Clouds and decouples the evolution of Orchestrator from the underlying Clouds. This presentation will share the related innovative designs and how to support the typical NFV use cases like VoLTE and vCPE.
