The challenge at the enterprise network edge revolves around moving from 10s or 100s of branch offices to accommodating millions of microprocessor devices that are multi-homed, support ‘east-west’ traffic, have real-time applications that require autonomy, and more often than not are mobile. What’s required is a software-defined architecture that is purpose built for this new reality.

This session covers fundamental understanding of the challenges of Edge vs Cloud and why the concept of scaling up a SD-WAN technologies satisfies some needs but complications introduced in the network edge - both the control plane and data plane - require a purpose built architecture.
